St. Rita's Parish Clergy
St. Rita's Catholic Church is a diverse parish and is part of the Diocese of Fresno governed by the Bishop Joseph Brennan. This parish is led by our Pastor, along with support from our deacon, staff, and various councils made up of parishioners. We engage parishioners in the day-to-day work of our ministries.

Deacon Mario was ordained to the diaconate on October 22, 2017. Known for his warm presence and genuine care for others, he has become a beloved figure in the parish community. Deacon Mario is deeply committed to the ministry of Adoration Nocturna, reflecting his strong faith and dedication to fostering a closer relationship with the Blessed Sacrament.

Whether offering guidance during spiritual moments or simply lending a compassionate ear, he consistently goes above and beyond for parishioners. In addition to his other ministries, Deacon Mario leads Marriage Preparation in Spanish, helping couples build strong, faith-centered foundations for their married life.

He and his family—his wife Celina and their three children—share in his mission, embodying the values of love, service, and faith that he so passionately promotes. The parish community is truly blessed to have such a dedicated and compassionate leader.

Deacon Jose A. Cortez has been married to his wife, Blanca, for 27 years. Together they have five wonderful children—Steven, Julissa, Yesenia, Omar, and Oscar—and are blessed to have their daughter-in-law, Alexis, and their beautiful granddaughter, Gabriella Rose.

Born in Guanajuato, Mexico, Deacon Jose emigrated to the United States at the age of 15 and eventually settled in Tulare, California. He has been employed as a Manager at a local dairy for over 23 years.
​
Called by God to serve in many ways, Deacon Jose and his family are excited and blessed to serve the brothers and sisters of their community in the name of Jesus Christ.
